We try to make your surgery as simple and comfortable as possible for you, and you can help by following these pre-surgery preparation suggestions

Scalp Laxity Exercises

If you are having FUT (Strip) surgery, your results can be greatly influenced by the laxity of your donor zone.  Laxity is the amount of looseness or “play” in your scalp. Greater laxity generally results in the ability to extract more grafts and can help with ensuring minimal scarring. The exercises are easy to do and only take a few minutes each day.  The more you exercise, the greater your laxity, so start exercising at least one month in advance if you can. Scalp Laxity does not impact extractions made using FUE. See the scalp laxity exercise instructions and video.

Photography

Everybody loves to see before-and-after pictures and they are helpful for you to see how your transplant recovery is progressing. We will take lots of “before” photos of your head on the day of your surgery and we’ll photograph your head at the end of your surgery, but you may also want to keep your own set of “before” photos.

Paperwork & Financing

We will collect your medical history and contact information well in advance of your surgery to ensure there are no conflicting medications or conditions that might complicate your operation.  We’ll also work with you to collect a deposit which will allow us to schedule your technical team and book the operating room for you.

  • After your surgery date is scheduled, the first deposit of $500 is due within one week.
  • 3 weeks before your surgery, a payment of 75% of your estimated cost is due.
  • The balance is due the day of your surgery.
  • Payments for last-minute bookings will be arranged individually.

Travel & Accommodations

If you are flying into Vancouver for your surgery our Administrative staff will book a hotel for you or help you find a hotel that suits your needs. Patients are invited to the clinic the day after their surgery so we can check on your progress and show you how to safely wash your hair, but the rest of the day is yours, so you may want to plan some activities to explore Vancouver.
