Do hair transplants work? And are you a candidate?
How much loss has taken place already?
We seek to know what is causing your hair loss and how it might progress. If you have suffered from a one-time loss due to illness, stress or trauma, we can assume the loss is halted and plan how to best distribute the transplanted follicles. If your loss is on-going, we need to consider how it might progress and how things will look in two, three or ten years. Will you try to prevent future loss with medication? Do we need to plan for additional surgeries?
Are your expectations achievable?
Some people come to us wishing to regain the hairline and density they had in their youth. It is our job to help you understand what expectations are reasonable given your particular circumstances and to design a hairline that is suitable for your age. Our surgeons are among the most experienced in the World, and have each designed hairlines for thousands of patients. If you require density restoration, we’ll help you to understand how we achieve the aesthetic impact you want with the donor hair resources available. We work with you to establish achievable expectations and may decline surgery if we think you will be dissatisfied with the results.
How is your donor zone?
So much depends on having healthy, available donor grafts. We’ll look at the density of hair growth in your donor zone, the coarseness of your hair, the size of the donor region and the method of extraction you prefer. With strip surgery (FUT) we are able to extract thousands of grafts from a small area. With punch extraction (FUE) the grafts are extracted from a much larger area, so we need to consider both when calculating what kind of coverage we can achieve.
So how can you tell if you are a good candidate?
By far, the simplest way is to send us some pictures, a little history and your hair restoration desires. We have processed tens of thousands of online assessments and are able to provide a you with a comprehensive assessment including a hair transplant cost estimate, usually within just a few working days. You can also visit the clinic in Vancouver or meet with one of our roving consultants for a consultation in your city. Our consultants are also our patients – they have first-hand experience to share with your and can answer a lot of your questions. Don’t wait! So many of our patients wish they had come to us sooner.
Preventing Hair Loss
It does not make much sense to have hair transplant surgery without trying to prevent future hair loss.
