Hair Transplant Scaring
FUT Hair Transplant surgery (strip surgery) involves removing a strip of hair from the back of the head. Once the strip is removed, individual follicular units are dissected, and those follicular units are used for the area(s) of the head that require coverage. Once the strip has been removed, the incision is then closed.
At Hasson and Wong, we remove the strip in sections and immediately close the incision after each section is removed. A method called Trichophytic Closure is then used to create nearly invisible hair transplant scars.
Just take a look at our results and you can clearly see that patients presented on this page, have virtually, undetectable scars. No scar after any surgery is 100% invisible, but as you can see in our results, using our experience and techniques, it’s incredibly difficult to spot the scars in the vast majority of our patients.
All The Evidence You Need
At Hasson & Wong, we’ll provide you with example after example of hair transplant scars on former patients. As you’ll notice in the photo examples below, we back those photos up with video footage. In the videos, we continuously comb through our patient’s hair at the back of their heads attempting to show you the hair transplant scar. We say ‘attempting’ because for some patients, even we have a difficult time finding the scar.
As you view our examples, you’ll notice that our videos provide close-ups of the hair transplant scar area, we film in a well-lit room and use a high-quality HD camera. We’re proud of our ability to consistently provide world-class hair transplant results and the types of hair transplant scars you see on this page.
We want to remove any possible doubt you may have, that what we are showing you is 100% authentic. We believe that’s been accomplished through the use of HD technology, filming in a well-lit environment and providing close-ups and a slow comb through.

Hair Transplant Scar Revisions
At Hasson and Wong, we see patients that are the unfortunate recipients of bad hair transplant scars from other clinics. Fortunately for these patients, in most cases, their scars can be dramatically reduced. Here’s an example of a patient that had hair transplant surgery at another clinic and was left with a less than desirable scar. The scar was repaired at our clinic.
Scar From Another Hair Transplant Clinic
Here’s an example of an undesirable hair transplant scar from another hair transplant clinic. A variety of factors influences the size of the scar, none being more important than the skill of the surgeon which in this case, resulted in a 3-4 mm scar.
Result Of Scar Repair By Hasson & Wong
In this case, Hasson & Wong has effectively and significantly reduced the size of the scar and in some areas, combined two scars (which the patient had) into one, which resulted in closer to a 1 mm scar. The patient can now effectively cut his hair shorter and completely camouflage the scar.
Frequently Asked Questions About Hair Transplant Scars
Do big strips create larger scars?
The size of the strip has no correlation to the size of the scar. For example someone requiring 3,000 grafts compared to someone requiring 6,000 grafts, the remaining scar will be the same.
How long does a scar take to heal?
Scars will continue to improve over time. Going from red, to white and fading. The healing time is dependent upon the individual. Each person has different healing characteristics.
How long do the scars stay red for?
As each of us has different skin tones and different healing characteristics, the amount of redness and the time the redness will be present on or around the scar, will vary from person to person.
If an individual’s skin tone is within the medium to dark range, typically, any lingering redness will be gone within a few weeks post surgery. Individuals with skin on the pale side, redness could take up to six months to fade, while others fade within a few weeks or so. Once again, the healing characteristics of the individual typically dictate how long any degree of redness will linger. But in the end, how long the redness takes to fade is irrelevant as the scar is hidden by the hair and not visible.
