FUE Hair Transplant Recovery
This patient, in his early 30s and living in California, was particularly bothered by his thinning and receded hairline. He was also using both finasteride and minoxidil to help control further loss. After conducting online research, he ultimately chose Hasson & Wong to achieve his hair restoration goals.
While he was open to FUT, he preferred FUE, and it was determined that this would be the more favorable option in his case. During our consultation and treatment planning, he initially expressed that the front concerned him more than the crown and was considering restoring the hairline only. Upon further evaluation, however, it was determined that his donor reserves would be sufficient to address both the front and the crown.
In this and many similar cases, the goal is to create a cosmetically impactful hairline, one that requires high density, while also providing adequate coverage in the crown to eliminate the appearance of substantial thinning or baldness. He ultimately decided to move forward with treating both areas.
A total of 2,500 grafts were used to restore the hairline, with an additional 2,500 grafts placed in the crown. While some crown cases may warrant a larger number of grafts, it is important to balance coverage and density. We do not want to allocate too many grafts to the crown if it risks compromising density and overall impact in the frontal zone. A smaller second session can certainly be considered in the future, if desired, to further increase density in the crown.
As reflected in his 12-month and 26-month post-op comments, he is very happy with the result and glad he chose Hasson & Wong to perform his procedure.

Day 1 After Surgery
Immediate Post-Surgery Comments: Finished the second day of my hair transplant surgery with 2,500 grafts focused on the crown. The first day also involved 2,500 grafts, targeting the hairline and frontal crown. First impressions: I look much better than I expected — especially compared to my brother’s experience at a different clinic. The saline injected into my scalp made my head look a bit swollen, and I noticed the fluid from day one had drooped to the other side of my head. The clinic provided a bandage and a black hat, which made the journey back to the hotel much easier. The staff really stood out, offering constant care — food, drinks, medicine, and overall support during the procedure. I think that made a huge difference from what I’ve read online about this kind of surgery.
Day 1 After Surgery Comments:
I look like I just finished a UFC fight, but I’m feeling good. Sleep was fine with a neck pillow (highly recommend getting a premium one) and the prescribed meds. Elena, one of the clinic staff, did my first wash and gave a thorough explanation of the aftercare process. Pain was minimal throughout the day. My mom found a large enough hat to cover my now oversized head. We walked around Granville Island, near the clinic, and grabbed a bite close to the hotel. Having her with me really helped keep my spirits up and I think staying active boosted my recovery.

Day 2 After Surgery
Now I look like I lost the UFC fight. Still minimal pain, but the itching has really kicked in. Luckily, another wash by Elena helped relieve it, at least temporarily. The itch returned later, but I mostly ignored it as my mom and I flew back to the SF Bay Area. Funny moment: I got stopped at Immigration because I looked different from my passport photo. It was brief — we laughed, and I moved on.

2 Weeks After Surgery
A lot more scabs have formed, and some are falling off. I was worried to see hair attached to the scabs, but it’s normal — this is known as “shock loss.” The hairs are now entering a temporary resting phase and should start regrowing in 3–5 months, according to the post-op documentation. I’m looking forward to the growth. I’m also really glad I’ve been able to go out — to concerts, restaurants, and meet new people — this soon after surgery!

1 Month After Surgery
All the scabs are gone, and the itching has mostly stopped. After the two-week mark, I felt more comfortable applying pressure when shampooing to help remove remaining crusts. I cut my hair for the first time since the surgery — only in the donor area — and felt very little discomfort. The only downside: the shedding phase has started. The donor hairs have thinned, and now some reddish areas are visible next to my remaining hair.

3 Months After Surgery
No more itching, and I can finally see some of the new hair growing in — worth the wait! There are still some small scabs in the crown area. I’m still wearing a hat anytime I go out to protect the recipient areas. I also trimmed my hair again — lightly, and not in the grafted areas.

26 Months After Surgery
Two years later, my front hairline still looks fantastic. The crown has grown in further, though not quite as much as the front. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the results. It’s great to be able to comb through my hair and not have spots with little to no hair. I may want to touch up my crown area in the future since we went a bit lighter there, and I will definitely go back to Hasson & Wong when that time comes.
