At H&W, we have been world leaders in strip surgery for the past 19 years. We have either developed or made substantial contributions to many aspects of the modern hair transplant surgical process.
These include the following:
- Lateral slit technique
- Custom blades for recipient sites
- Custom blade cutting machine (over one thousand of these are used by HT clinics around the world)
- Ultra dense packing
- Large mega sessions (4000 – 9500fu per sessions)
- Ultra refined grafting – a term coined by HTN’s Pat Henessey when I introduced the variable of multi- hair FUS orientation importance in the HT process.
I know of no other clinic that has contributed more to the field of strip surgery.
With all of these innovations, I am sure that you can imagine that we are forward thinking individuals, always searching for a better process. If you look at the innovations we have pioneered, you may note one important commonality. They all relate in some way to the implantation process of the hair transplant procedure. Not to the strip harvesting procedure! If we were able to harvest FUS by the FUE process, all of our innovations could be equally applied.
I admit that we have been slow to jump aboard the FUE bandwagon. The last thing that we wanted to do was provide FUE surgery results that were ‘mediocre’ and reduce our status to just another clinic ‘ now offering FUE ‘.
We have spent the last four years researching the FUE process. We have looked at manual punches, multiple varieties of power punches and purchased an Artas robot. Each technique has been assessed from multiple angles and in great depth.
While we originally had success with the manual punch, we have since come to a conclusion that the best technique -in our opinion – and by a large margin, is the motorized flat punch.
I would like to thank personally our friends Dr. Jose Lorenzo and Dr. Jean Devroye, for their very kind assistance and opening their doors for us -so we could learn their techniques.
We are now performing approximately one FUE procedure daily. The extraction is performed by our team of RN’s, who have been working with us for many years. They have developed a level of fine motor skills way beyond the level of most, or perhaps any, physician, which adapts them perfectly to this skill. The motorized punch allows us to perform up to 2500-3000 extractions daily.
I never imagined that FUE grafts, if extracted properly, could look so close to those of strip. Nor could I have predicted that the donor area could look so pristine and almost perfect only 1 week after the procedure.

We will be posting videos and photos of the extraction process and the grafts obtained. I’m confident you will be as impressed as I am.
I would like to thank two of our amazing techs – Carmen and Elena – for their hard work – being shifted to places around the world, and their sheer dedication to getting this process so perfect.
Due to our industry leading FUT results and our world-renowned reputation, prospective hair transplant patients have been patiently waiting for us to offer FUE hair transplants. We’re proud to announce that the wait is over.
We’re confident that our recent discoveries will set new standards in FUE methods and we look forward to providing the evidence to support these claims.
Stay tuned much more about FUE to come!

Does this technique work for women???
Hello Marcia,
Sorry for the delayed response!
The answer is YES! FUE is a physical method using a surgical punch to mark the extractions, so there is no real difference between male and female patients in terms of donor area requirements. This still means that your donor area must be suitable for the surgery, with enough density and general health to enable this method of extraction and to provide you with enough grafts to achieve the results you desire.
Thanks for asking!
Do you still recommend ‘strip’ over FUE for donors requiring in excess of, say, 5000 grafts?
Recommendations can only be made after examining your particular situation and donor hair area. That said, strip extraction is the more efficient extraction process and can be completed much faster than punch extraction (FUE). For 5000 grafts, you might be looking at two or three days of surgeries using FUE. If you have surgery with FUT extraction, it can be completed in one day.
Do you have appointments available for september2016
Hello, you can make an appointment in Vancouver by calling 604-739-4247, sending a note here http://bit.ly/1NDDEej or by emailing info@hassonandwong.com. They have access to the doctors schedules and can work with you to find a date.
2 Questions
1. I had 2 strip procedures by Dr Hasson about 8 years ago. After the last session Dr Hasson told me i was no longer a candidate for strip surgery, however, my remaining original hair has completely thinned and my original results need a touch up. Is it possible I could be a candidate for FUE even though no longer for FUT?
2. Are the doctors also using BHT FUE techniques nowadays?
FUE is an option for many who have had previous strip surgeries, however, a doctor would need to take a good look at your particular situation to evaluate the growth in your donor zone and figure out if it can supply enough grafts to fulfill your current restoration desires. If you’d like to submit some pictures or set up a consultation, you can use this online form : http://bit.ly/1Wl8ldQ, or you can give us a shout at 1-800-859-2266.
We have performed a number of Body Hair Transplants over the years, and FUE is used for those surgeries, but those surgeries are still quite rare.
I’m 58, in good health though I do take 20 MG of Lisinopril and 25 MG of Hydrochlorothiazide for high blood pressure and have avoided Epinephrine during dental visits.
How does this affect my viability for a mega-session?
The doctors need to use Epi during surgery. You would need to consult with your doctor and acquire his written approval for any surgery that requires the use of Epi.
What is typically the maximum number of FUE grafts you can perform on a patient per day?
We say that any more than 1500 may require a second day of surgery, however, depending on how long of a day the patient is good for, we may be able to do more in one session.
I have just taken the services from dr Hassan for my hairs transplant…I am feeling so good and hairs are looking so good and thick after 4 days of surgery .
I have taken FUE from India 4 years before .
It was fully failed and bad experienced for me .
Dr Hassan suggest me FUT after seeing my donour area and I’m feeling so happy with his services and his staff good caring nature .
I salute from heart to dr Hassan ..
Hi Pankaj, thanks for this nice comment, we’re glad you’re feeling confident and we are looking forward to seeing your results!
If I needed 5000 fue grafts could you do them in 3 consecutive days?
Yes. Well, at least it is very likely we could do that work over three days, possibly even two, but as always, a lot depends on your particular circumstances, donor area, the concentration of multiple-hair grafts and other factors.
Hi there! do you do eyebrows as well? mine are a little sparse and I would like them fuller and more natural looking.
Yes, we do eyebrows too.
Hi,
I wondered if you have any FUE results? I’ve seen a couple of cases so far but nothing recently.
With the FUE surgeries that you have done to date have you found that growth is poor in comparison to strip or that graft survival is low due to the enhanced difficulty of extraction vs strip?
Thanks for any information you can supply
More FUE photos will be coming more regularly now. There is a new FUE album in our galleries. We are seeing excellent growth and results with FUE, with very low incidence of transection.
is it ok to have fue transplant combined with strip surgery lets say 1 year apart between surgeries? for example a person needing 5000 grafts or more, break it up in maybe 3000 fue and 2000 to 3000 strip?
It is not uncommon to use both extraction methods, it really depends on the current state of your donor area and which method will yield the best results for you. Some patients initially have strip extraction and a year or two later may return for additional work and may choose FUE extraction at that point. As usual, everyone is different, so your own situation would need to be assessed before making that kind of recommendation.
I was wondering if transplanted body hair still only grows to about 1″, OR, after it’s been transplanted onto the head does the hair’s anagen phase change completely, and it grows to any length at that point?
If that’s the case, can I specifically choose to have a body hair transplant? It would solve two problems, my baldness and my dislike of my body hair.
Second to that, is it possible to fill in my patchy beard as well?
Thanks for your time.
Hi Aleph,
Thank you very much for your question.
Transplanted body hair can grow longer on the head. In general body hair is not a good option but as a last resort it is best used as a filler or in areas other than the hairline and front.
It is possible to fill in your beard, head hair would be recommended.

Hi Georges Antoine,
Thank you very much for contacting us.
To book a surgery date generally 1-2 month wait time for FUT and 3 months for FUE.

Im looking into getting a beard transplant surgery. I have little to no facial hair and am wanting at least a medium-thick beard or a goatee with a little hair on my cheeks. I was wondering if you offer a procedure for this and how much this would cost me. Just a general estimate for someone with no facial hair would be greatly appreciated. I know this depends on how many hair follicles or what type of procedure it is but im not sure about that. Also are you able to provide me with digital imaging before the procedure. Also are you covered by medicard by ifinance canada or a similar service. If you do not provide this service kindly tell me who does in metro vancouver.
Hello Gurman,
Thank you for your time and questions.
We do offer beard transplants. A full beard reconstruction could cost $16,000-$20,000, a goatee around $12,000. We do not provide digital imaging. We have financing through our Website but only for US and Canadian citizens.
We guarantee the grafts will grow and in most cases transplanted hair will last a lifetime regardless of whether you shave or not. However, if the donor hair thins, the transplants may also thin. While this is rare, we cannot predict this situation and the guarantee would not apply in a case such as this.
Do not hesitate to come back to us if you have any other question.
Thank you once again for your considering Hasson and Wong.
My son has two bald patches on both sides of his scalp. The spots were there from birth. Since he was pretty much bald at birth and very blonde it was not noticeable until he was around 2 years of age. The spots are identical with peach fuzz type hair. I believe that it may have been due to his having surgery at 5 days old and having IV’s in his scalp at those areas. As he grew the areas grew larger. The veins that the IV’s were in run right through the center of his bald patches. He has learned to live with it mostly wearing hats or styling his hair over the patches. He is 25 years old. I have felt bad for him throughout the years and always talked about when, how and even if a hair transplant would work for him. He found your website. I would like to pursue this for him if it is a possibility. It could be alopecia, but not sure. Thank you for any reply.
Hi Debbie,
Thank you very much for contacting us.
Based on the information you have provided it appears your son could be a good candidate for hair restoration at our clinic.
You can fill out the online consultation form from our website and upload photos.

Thank you so much for your quick response, Pablo! I will have my son fill out the consultation and provide photos. I am ready to move forward on this!
Hello there, I was scalded by a steamer on the back of my head when I was 8 mths old. I had transplants done when I was aprox 12-13 yrs old, but because it was a difficult age with school and being teased all my life I never wanted to go back to have more done. I am now 51 and wishing I had as my hair is only getting thinner and the bald spot is getting more difficult to cover. As this was an accident that happened to me as a child, the hair transplant procedure I had done was covered under medical…my question today is, would it still be? And if not how much is a procedure? The spot is about the size of a large orange. Thankyou for time on reading my letter and I look forward to hearing back at your earliest convenience.
Hi Geraldine,
It is not likely that another procedure would be covered under medical but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to inquire. A few factors will determine how many grafts may be required. Considering factors such as how much existing hair is present, the quality of your donor hair and how dense we can safely place the grafts, you may be looking at something in the 1500 to 2,500 graft range. FUT would likely be the preferred method of extraction and for this the cost would range from around $7,500 to $12,000.
I had electrolysis on my beard in the cheek area around 15 years ago. It left a very linear look plus i now have enlarged pores where the hairs were removed. I only had around 200 hundred hairs or less removed. would it be possible to replace the hairs back into the same location the electrolysis happened?
