This Vancouver area patient in his 30’s came to see Dr. Wong about the increasingly balding area of his crown. He had used Finasteride off and on over the years but while it may have helped hold the area in check at times, his loss was far enough along that only a transplant would restore the crown to an acceptable level. His hairline was still in pretty good shape so the biggest cosmetic impact would be realized by restoring just the crown. For a smaller sized session such as this, FUE was the logical method of choice. He liked to wear his hair short and this also factored in his decision to have FUE over FUT. While we agree FUE was the better choice in this case, he was still a candidate for FUT if he desired. He continues to use Finasteride which may have also contributed to some improvement in the mid scalp. It should also prevent expansion of the crown by preserving the hair surrounding the transplanted area. In this scenario, the chance of needing future work in the crown will be substantially reduced. These photos were taken just shy of 2 years post-op. While no work was done in the hairline, we’ve also included a photo of the front for added perspective. We thank him for sharing his result.
