This Vancouver patient, in his early 50’s, had been thinking about hair transplant surgery for quite some time. He noticed he was starting to lose his hair at about the age of 30. Over the years, he would look into the mirror and see a little bit more of his hair slipping away from his frontal zone.
A number of his friends had been to see Dr. Hasson and each time he would see one of them, he was impressed with the transformation. After running into another one of his friends (who was about 8 months post-op) from his hair restoration procedure with Dr. Hasson, and marveling at the result, he decided it was his turn to take the plunge.
Dr. Hasson rebuilt his frontal zone blending into the mid scalp with approximately 4,500 of the 4725 total grafts used during the surgery. The remaining couple hundred grafts we placed in the crown to add coverage to the small thinning area. Of the 4725 grafts used in the procedure, 1212 were single hairs grafts, 3226 were doubles and 287 were 3-4 hair grafts. The strip width varied from 1 centimeter to 2 centimeters along the 33 centimeters of length.
The hair transplant procedure went smooth and took about 10 hours to complete. The patient’s hair was medium to slightly coarser in texture and the density was slightly above average. On the Norwood scale Dr. Hasson classified him as a 3V with likely progression to a 4. He has been using Finasteride for almost 2 decades.
These photos were taken 9 months post-op. He is extremely happy with the result and would highly recommend the hair transplant surgery for anyone considering it. He commented that for years he was shy in front of a camera and self-conscious about his hair loss. As time goes by, his comfort level increases. When filming his testimonial video where he tells his story and a little about his journey towards his hair transplant procedure, he seemed like a natural in front of the camera. You wouldn’t know he was camera shy! If he had one regret, it was that he waited to have the procedure and put it off so long. He wished he would have done it years ago to have been able to enjoy the hair sooner.
His message to potential hair restoration patients: “Just do it!”
