5003 Grafts FUE

After
Before

This patient in his mid-60s traveled from Europe to undergo his FUE procedure at Hasson & Wong. During a conversation about his hair loss with his hairstylist, he was surprised to learn that his stylist was already familiar with Hasson & Wong and held our work in high regard. With that endorsement, traveling 5,000 miles to pursue his goals felt like an easy decision.

His weakened frontal forelock still offered some framing, but the progressively receding hairline and thinning frontal zone were becoming an increasing concern. Dr. Sood planned to restore a lower hairline while adding density to the frontal zone and mid-scalp, utilizing a total of 5,000 grafts via the FUE method of extraction. For the remaining areas of the mid-scalp and crown, topical dutasteride was recommended and initiated prior to the procedure. His hair caliber was slightly on the fine side, and overall donor quality and supply were considered about average.

On Day 1 of the procedure, Dr. Sood and team harvested 2,600 grafts consisting of 300 single-hair grafts, 1,778 doubles, and 522 grafts containing 3–4 hairs. Day 2 yielded an additional 2,400 grafts: 1,819 doubles and 581 grafts containing 3–4 hairs. A 0.85 mm hybrid punch was used for the extractions.

Despite the grafts being very fragile, excellent yield and growth were achieved. In cases such as this, where strict attention to detail in graft handling is critical, a skilled and experienced technical team plays an essential role.

These photos were taken one year post-op, with the patient wearing a light hair-styling product.
